Throughout the 19th century, the major Irish immigration influenced America, at that time, in many ways, mostly politically, economically, and religiously. Despite the challenges that the immigrants faced upon arrival, the effects of this great immigration still remain today in the large Irish-American population, and the Catholic Church, the religion that the Irish immigrants brought to America over a century ago.
